Dr Dad Abu-Bonsrah completed his PhD at the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute in 2017, where he used CRISPR/Cas9 edited human embryonic stem cells and avian embryos to study the pathogenesis of multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2B. He then moved to the Cardiac Regeneration Lab at the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute, where he collaborated with the Hudson’s Medical Research Institute to optimise Cas9-editing of pig zygotes for application in large animal model studies. Dr Abu-Bonsrah is the CardioRegen stem cell repository coordinator, where he is currently focused on utilising Cas9-edited patient stem cells to model cardiomyopathies and childhood heart disease.
